The inaugural Cross-Strait and Hong Kong-Macao Congress on Pediatric Orthopaedics was held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, China in November 2007, hosted by Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital. More than 120 pediatric orthopaedic specialists from the Cross-Strait , Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR attended this congress, marking the first formal academic exchange event in the field of pediatric orthopaedics across the Cross-Strait , Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR and representing a significant milestone.

The congress featured in-depth discussions on topics including developmental dysplasia of the hip, scoliosis, and lower limb deformities in cerebral palsy, establishing a regular academic exchange mechanism for pediatric orthopaedics across the Cross-Strait , Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR. During the congress, experts from the Cross-Strait , Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR jointly proposed the establishment of the "Chinese Pediatric Orthopaedic Exchange Collaborative Group," laying the foundation for the subsequent formation of the Chinese Pediatric Orthopaedic Exchange Association.
